Super Jake was just three years old when a minor bellyache
turned into every parent’s worst nightmare with the words: “your child has
cancer.” He died a year later from
a rare pediatric cancer called neuroblastoma.
Jake never had a chance to start kindergarten or learn how
to ride a bike without training wheels.
And, sadly, he’s not alone.
Neuroblastoma generally strikes kids under the age of 5. Many of these kids will die, yet very
few people are even aware of this horrible disease. As a result there is very little funding available for
pediatric cancers like neuroblastoma.
The mission of The Super Jake Foundation is to fund research
to find a cure for neuroblastoma, and other rare pediatric cancers. At this time, there are no drugs or
treatments specifically designed to treat this aggressive disease. As a result, when children relapse,
most, like Jake, will die. The
need for help couldn’t be greater.
Since The Super Jake Foundation began in 2005, we have raised
$1.3 million! We have funded
research at key institutions like Children’s Memorial Hospital, Comer Children’s
Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. We have also awarded 20 Super Hero Grants to children affected
by neuroblastoma.
We can continue to help more children diagnosed with neuroblastoma if you join our team!
